Dear Librarian:
Look, we all know tween girls. They come into your library with lots of drama.
It's definitely a confusing time, and that's why I wrote THE HOT LIST, my second book about middle school. I wanted to address what it's like to be in a constant state of transition, especially with your best friend.
That describes Sophie Fanuchi in the HOT LIST. It's something I understand. In seventh grade, my own best friend told me we needed to downgrade our friendship. Ouch.
I hope the girls who read THE HOT LIST will recognize themselves, as well as laugh out loud. I used to perform sketch comedy Off-Broadway, so making people smile is important to me.
I'm thrilled that Booklist says that THE HOT LIST "captures the angst of young teen friendships and fragile identities. "
Tell me how it's going with your tween readers, and enter to win a signed copy of THE HOT LIST by emailing hillary@hillaryhomzie.com.
In friendship,
Hillary Homzie
