Thank you for reading IRISH EYES, the launch of my American Songbook series and a love note to my Irish ancestors, who came to America on the coffin ships at the height of the Great Hunger. I am so excited to share Rose O'Neill's story with you, a story that spans many of the tumultuous and exciting flashpoints of the early twentieth century — the Spanish-American War, women's struggle to win the vote, World War I, Prohibition and the Roaring Twenties, and the rise of New York as a modern metropolis.

I hope Rose's tragedies and triumphs will inspire you to never give up on your dreams. Though IRISH EYES is a work of fiction, the book embodies a belief that I hold as very dear and very real.
