Dear Librarians,

Lauren Terrazzano, who spent her journalism career fighting for other people's causes, suddenly found herself fighting for her life after being diagnosed with lung cancer. She bravely battled the disease for two years, spending the last eight months of her life chronicling her plight in a weekly column, "Life, with Cancer." With compelling honesty, she revealed many misunderstood issues about lung cancer, in particular its increasing incidence rate among women, before succumbing in May 2007, leaving behind a legacy that lives on to enlighten and inspire.

This is a father's tender story of his daughter's toughest assignment of all. With him, I hope you'll learn to admire Lauren as so many of her loyal Newsday fans have before.
