Ramsey Montgomery
Dear Reader:
Life throws you curveballs. Writing Choose Your Own Adventure for 30 years, and now publishing it for the past five, I should know that. I asked both my sons, Anson and Ramsey, to pick the best book they had written for the series (they both wrote several) and we would put those titles back into print. Anson, a sci-fi fan, immediately chose the excellent Moon Quest. Sadly, before Ramsey could make his decision, he died unexpectedly from a brain aneurism, age 40. It took us a few months to realize that he had never told us which book was his favorite. But there was a spot in the schedule and it needed to be filled. Everyone on staff read all five of Ramsey's books. The choice was unanimous: Ramsey's best book was U.N. Adventure. It was exciting and believable, prescient about terrorism and the loss of civil society in Africa. So it's bittersweet, publishing this book. But we are so proud to bring it to a new generation of readers.
P.S. Ramsey was teaching English to schoolchildren in Saigon when he died, planning a trip up the Mekong in a rat tail canoe, ever the adventurer.
