Dear Reader,

The Mid-Autumn Festival is synonymous with lanterns and mooncakes and is celebrated by many cultures throughout the world. Come join in the celebrations with THE SHADOW IN THE MOON. Two sisters listen to their grandmother tell them the ancient tale of Hou Yi and Chang'e, the archer and the Lady in the Moon, and how the Mid-Autumn Festival came to be.

I love that I've been able to share a little piece of myself and my heritage through this book.  I hope that young readers will be able to see themselves and their families in the book, regardless of their background.

Happy reading!

"Useful for introducing a significant festival celebrated in Chinese and other East Asian cultures... The cartoonlike illustrations are reminiscent of Tomie dePaola." —Booklist
