Dear Reader:
Take one missing uncle, a lucky skull ring, a run-away tarantula, lots of pickles, and an "ordinary" family. Put it all together and you have my debut middle grade novel, THE UPSIDE OF ORDINARY! Eleven year old Jermaine Davidson wants to be famous. She decides to make a reality TV show about her family. But Jermaine sees her family as painfully ordinary, so she creates more drama and excitement that results in some unpleasant consequences. Eventually Jermaine discovers that there is a better way to achieve fame, and she learns there is an upside of being a part of an ordinary but loving family.
If you like a book that makes you laugh, you will like THE UPSIDE OF ORDINARY!

"...pie-in-the-face comedy...believably depicted...Jermaine neatly captures her living-in-the-moment, no-holds-barred attitude. This debut novel offers an amusing lesson on the downside of reality television..." Kirkus Reviews
"MY FIVE FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT THE NOVEL: A strong character arc. A strong supporting cast. Believable use of modern technology. Effective use of 1st Person, Present Tense. A satisfying ending." Middle Grade Mayhem blog
