Patricia Intriago
Dear Reader:
When my sons were very young, I'd make up games to play with just a pad of paper and pencil. In one game, I'd draw a random squiggle or shape and ask them to guess what it was that I'd drawn. Like finding cloud formations, there were no right or wrong answers. Their pure sense of imagination and humor amazed and inspired me to create my first book, DOT.
In the book, I use a dot to illustrate opposite relationships like hungry and full, loud and quiet, and here and there. It's a simple idea that challenges children to think abstractly. Because of the strong text-illustration connection, DOT may be one of the first books children learn to read. Visual learners and even design-savvy adults will appreciate DOT's strong graphic style.
"Children will encounter ample ways to interact with this incredibly elegant, clever, and delightful concept book."
–School Library Journal (Starred Review)
I hope that you'll enter to win a signed copy of DOT picked from random entries. To enter, write to me at info@intriagodesign.com or visit my website: www.IntriagoDesign.com/dot.
Thanks for reading!

"DOT's a splendid and unexpected book." Milton Glaser, graphic designer
"I'm guessing the graphics are what will initially attract folks to DOT. They are understated and perfect. But for me, the real revelation is the subtle and clever text. Classic Ruth Krauss comes to mind and I can't help giggling every time I read it." Lane Smith, author of It's a Book
"Sometimes less is more (and inspiring + funny on top of that)." Christoph Niemann, author of I LEGO N.Y.
"Patricia Intriago's DOT is absolutely wonderful as it combines charm, humor and graphic design at its best. It made me smile!" Laura Vaccaro Seeger, author of The Hidden Alphabet
