What if your special skill could help save the world? 

That's just what happened in World War II, when seemingly ordinary people used their talents to do extraordinary things.

In writing the CAPE, MASK, and BOOTS historical fantasy series, I wanted to introduce young readers to real-life figures who loved puzzles and went on to crack enemy codes; who were good at math and became “human computers” and even the first programmers; who used their language fluency to serve as spies; and who trained to become barrier-breaking pilots.

So while the daring, comic-book loving trio soars over skylines and wallops Nazi villains — seriously, who doesn't want super strength or the power to teleport? — they also learn that heroes often come without the costumes.

Now optioned for film, this series is meant to inspire kids to new heights.
