Dear Librarian: I love to walk through snow, to climb mountains, to smell the fresh air and I love to dream about flying. Soaring through the air, watching the earth from above, feeling the wind in my face and touching the clouds would be an amazing experience. Timo experiences this every day; his wings are strong, his mind is clear and his connection to the elements allows him to communicate with the wind. In the fantasy trilogy, "The Wind of Life", I write about two fourteen year old boys who live in two very different societies that find their roots in the same common ancestry, but both societies have forgotten about the past. They have begun to hate each other because of their differences - one can fly and the other can run as fast as the wind. The questions I ask are: Where does hatred come from? Why don't we learn from each other and become stronger by celebrating our differences? What does nature mean to us and to our understanding of life?
