Dear Librarians,

I love libraries. I was working in a public library when I wrote my first book, Faith and the Electric Dogs. I transcribed it into a library computer after hours. I got the good-news call from my agent while at the interlibrary loan desk. I catalogued and processed the book when it was published, and I shelved it. I checked it out many times. (I recommended it often.)

I went on sabbatical after my daughter was born, and soon became a full-time writer. I haven't returned to library work. Fortunately, I've been invited to visit libraries all over the country as an author. I've also had books on reading challenge lists and state book award lists. Some cities have selected titles of mine as community reads. I love librarians, too.
