Before I began writing and illustrating books, I was a filmmaker and a musician. My passion for films and music has always been strong. When my brother and I were kids, we spent many, many hours creating our own homemade movies and imitating our favorite musicians – especially The Beatles!
Once I got older, I discovered something very special. I owed a big 'thank you' to a man named Thomas Edison. Not only did he invent the first machine to record and play back music – he also started the movie industry!
I'll bet he invented something you're passionate about. At the very least, he invented things you rely on every day – like the light bulb!
Having said all that, I'm sorry to say I cannot give him credit for my favorite invention – Italian Water Ice.
I've invented a contest. Email me at gene@genebarretta.com and let me know you're favorite Thomas Edison invention. You may win a signed copy of my book, TIMELESS THOMAS: HOW THOMAS EDISON CHANGED OUR LIVES!.
