Dear Librarians,

This novel is about a first-generation Jewish-American family, five siblings born during the 1940's. Beginning the day Kennedy was shot, and ending on 9/11, the story follows the journey of the Perls — Jackie, Michael, Elaine, Steven and Bobbi — through the events of the second half of the twentieth century. In a larger sense it relates the odyssey of all immigrant families — Irish, Italian, Vietnamese, Persian, as well as Jewish — as they change within the shifting currents of time.
