Dear Librarian: The DAIRY QUEEN books have received such heartwarming support from librarians — particularly considering that D.J. Schwenk is not the world's most enthusiastic reader! Perhaps that's why so many librarians like her, because her awkwardness and insecurities appeal to reluctant readers who might be put off by, say, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE (a personal favorite of mine, but don't tell D.J. that). FRONT AND CENTER, the conclusion to the series, describes her junior basketball season and the pressures of college recruiting, as well as romance, chili, snow (it's set in Wisconsin, after all), and a lot more of Smut the dog.
