Dear Librarian: When I was in seventh grade, I was sure my mom's main goal in life was to humiliate me. Really, she was the opposite of Becca Bailey, the performance artist mom in TRAUMA QUEEN—but whenever my mom made me cringe, I vowed I'd raise my own daughter completely differently. Of course, then I grew up to actually have a daughter...and I realized how complicated the mother/daughter thing can be! So I wrote TRAUMA QUEEN. It's a story about the tricky relationship between thirteen-year-old Marigold and a mom who (I hope!) will make the average tween reader's mom seem normal.
